San Marcos Becomes Fifth Skydive Spaceland Location

USPA Staff

Skydive Spaceland recently purchased Skydive San Marcos in Fentress, Texas, from owners Paul and Jen Illingworth. The drop zone, which has served the Austin and San Antonio areas for more than 30 years, is now Spaceland’s fifth drop zone and its third in Texas. “We are pleased to support this transition and we look forward to Spaceland–San Marcos becoming the premier skydiving facility in Texas,” said the Illingworths.

World champion skydiver and instructor Thomas Hughes is operations manager for the DZ, and he brings 20 years of skydiving and competition experience to the table. “After spending almost two decades skydiving, I’m very excited to transition to the management team at Skydive Spaceland–San Marcos,” said Hughes.

The purchase of the DZ comes with plans for facility updates, likely starting in 2019. The drop zone plans to expand the main building, restroom facilities, spectator and parking areas and add a full-service restaurant.
